Dance Europe 2004 …Stockholm 59° North provided a spectacular evening with contemporary ballet…

Svenska Dagbladet 2003 A play with light and shadow loaded with total stage presence…

Expressen 2003 Simply, an evening of friction and life, of exiting contemporary dance….

Upsala Nya Tidning 2003 A Company worth all attention…

Dagens Nyheter 2003 Play fullness on the catwalk of dance…

Dance magazine 2003 Four men from ”Stockholm 59° North” in a frenzy of mock flamenco, depicted Bizets Opera Carmen…. Absolutely one of the most energetic and hilarious pieces choreographed for men…

Svenska Dagbladet 2001 5th anniversary with engaging dance euphoria …Stockholm 59° North celebrates its 5 year jubilee on their home stage Confidencen, and keeps the flag up high for Swedish 1700-dance, full of pantomime art and character dance… An evening carried of contagious dance euphoria

Dagens Nyheter 2001 Dance joy at Confidencen. The artists show their skills in very different styles in a generous performance …At Confidencen the history meet the future in a well-balanced and comfortably un-pretentious program for the well-being of the audience…

Svenska Dagbladet 2000 Excellent ambassadors entertain with quality… …In showing this the evening stretches from historical dance until 2000. This shows the group’s position as ambassadors for Swedish dance, with roots in historical earth and a future development through new creations made especially for the ensemble… …The goal, that in a smaller scale try to find forms for meetings between free choreographers and The Royal Swedish Ballet’s dancers, is very good and apparently worth to develop…

The daily Gazette 2000 …The ensemble of a dozen Swedes made its world debut at Jacob’s Pillow in 1997. That week of performances was the most talked about of the dance festival season. That’s because the group is inspired, like giddy young rebels, to present works the Royal would not- small in scale and daring, even if it is a bit risqué in approach…

Arts 2000 …Stockholm 59° North truly had taken us into heaven.

Times Union 2000 …But for a few short weeks in the summer, they trip the light as fantastic as Stockholm 59° North, a 13-member troupe that dances quirky and very modern work by contemporary Swedish and international choreographers. The seasoned ballet dancers bring with them power, clarity and a knife-edged articulation…

The Berkshire Eagle 2000 …Here is all the elevated lithe precision and articulation of the finest ballet lineage, and its archly delineated pantomime…. …To its credit, 59° North has selected works that are more interesting than not, and its treatment of them is so crisp and professional, so obviously affectionate and friendly, that it’s well worth watching… …It epitomizes the spirit of this fine ensemble: a willingness to please the sophisticated artistic palette. Skol!

The Berkshire Eagle 1997 …These are the kind of dancers you think of when people talk about ”classical ballet” – toes pointed, every muscle stretched to its limit, bodies perfectly balances and centred, making the impossibly difficult look easy. Jacob’s Pillow is a lot closer than Stockholm – see them while you can.

The Boston Globe 1997 …These are spectacularly beautiful young dancers, fully committed to the choreography, possessed of breathtaking technique and expression… …Repeat is what the Pillow should do with the Swedes. This taste of what the company is like breeds an appetite for more…

Times Union 1997 …The classiest Swedish import since SAAB… …The dancers all soloists with the Royal Swedish Ballet, appeared to toss aside the traditional restrictions of their form and leap with gusto into movement that originated from the centre of the body rather than the arms and legs. The pirouettes and en Pointe plies that did show up on stage felt like natural outgrowths of the choreography, not technical displays…

New York Times 1997 …The 13 dancers in the group are both forceful and lithe, with impeccable classical training and extraordinarily strong supple feet… …May the Swedes soon return.
